Wouldn't it be easier to keep her safe there?
Last I heard, Taisho had---
[How to put this delicately. ... Actually, why even bother?]
Conflicting priorities.

[ At the very least during a game. The other attacks on them are-- most likely because people are trying to avoid harming their loved ones on different units which just leaves Taisho as an easier target. ]
Ren-chan is on Pep! Pep! And while I sometimes feel...vexed... by some of their gameplay, there are not many units that dislike them at the very least and people think kindly of them. They're beloved. I think I have a better chance of protecting her from off unit than on. I've tried to form alliances with other units, and in the end, there are particular individuals who still view Taisho as the same unit it was before my time, and as a result, every single attempt has fallen through. [ Even when they made a contract with another unit.... ]
As for our priorities-- it depends. Fortunately, there is no one so coldhearted on Taisho that would target a person's child. And so everyone understands where my priorities are in a game. But even with that, we have too many units we care for which means we're always struggling to make difficult decisions. The only thing we can all agree on is that we want to play in a way that will cause the least amount of damage to others if we can afford to.

I assume that is what you are referring to by vexing gameplay choices.

[ Nnngg ]
It's not like I don't understand their desire-- but I'd feel a whole lot better about things if they could play a bit more selfishly. Though I think they've been reassessing some of their previous strategies. Regardless, I'll always fret over how that unit plays because I just don't want to see Ren hurt.

I've spoken with her regarding this after a particular game where things were rather dicey for Pep, and I suspected that it was due to the unit playing much too sacrificially. And that was definitely the case.
Knowing Ren from the few memories I have and from our time here together so far, I tend to think she's least likely on the unit to throw in the towel. That's not to say that she's out for blood, but she isn't so much of a pacifist that she'd willingly roll over and let someone hurt her.
[ Covering her face ]
This child literally asked to become a vampire hunter. Of all the things for a vampire to want to pursue...
[ Ren pls... ]
So yes... she's no sitting duck. The problem is that the unit puts everything to vote and with her in the minority, while I do believe they take into account her feelings on the matter, which may be why they've been reassessing things a bit, it still puts her in the minority.

[He reaches up to rub the bridge of his nose]
Honestly, pep would be more predictable if they did go that route. Instead of the roll of the dice that occur if you get two or three of the more self-sacrificing ones in a room together.
It's one thing to throw yourself under the bus to save someone. It's another to not understand the ripple effects of that choice.

[ That game was something else. . . ]
Each time I saw their score I felt like I was going to get sick. We didn't play hard but we did play with the intention of not falling below that doomsday point. I really worried they weren't going to make it out of that game.

They held their ground, didn't they? I suspect they played low cards throughout. So their middling score was only due to the fact that other units were playing higher cards than they were.

Ugh, that was an awful game. I felt terrible for all of those guest units.
[ . . . Wasn't his brother there? She remembers meeting him. ]
They survived though, you're right. And it was a much better showing than the castle game.

They did just as they were supposed to do.
Cause chaos and disruption.
no subject
[ They really did succeed if chaos and disruption were their main goals. ]
I was really confused about the sudden appearance of the guest units. I thought for a little bit there they were testing out what adding more units would be like. But I guess in the end it really was just to stir the pot...

If only all of them had stayed gone.

I only know two for sure who lingered behind. Wataru-san and Illya...? Though I wouldn't be surprised if there's more.

Are you related?

It's some reincarnation bullshit or something equally stupid!

So are you the reincarnation or is he?

[Translation: Intensity is the reincarnation.]

Right, right, Intensity-san. Just keep doing your best, mm!

You've been hanging around Angel, haven't you?
