[He progresses into a loping canter, getting away from the game tower and out onto the snow-covered road that stretches out between the buildings like a river of white.

Once he feels ready, and he's relatively certain Intensity's not going to fall off, he pushes himself into a gallop, and then a sprint. His paws make a staccato crunch against the snow, ice-cold wind tearing at their faces as they approach 40 mph, then 50, then 60, then 70.

[Intensity holds up one arm to fend off the wind and the snow as it rushes by, but otherwise he seems delighted by this whole exchange.

[He can't maintain a sprint for very long, it turns out, but fortunately he doesn't have to. They're trotting up to the conbini within a minute or so.

[he reaches up and puts his dinner-plate-sized paw on a package of teriyaki salmon bento.]

[he looks from side to side with just his eyes, as if he's only considering this for the first time right now.]

Well, I'm not sure I can work a pair of chopsticks like this, so yes, I guess I will have to eat it off the floor, with my face, like some kind of animal.

...Unless you want to hold it in your hands for me, but I don't know if that's any more dignified.

[Holds it at mouth level for Cobalt]

Please. It's mistletoe season. None of us have any dignity.

[he hesitates a moment, looking at the food, looking up at Intensity, then back at the food.]

[But he's very hungry, so after a beat, he tucks in. The enthusiasm kicks in immediately.

The good news is that he's very large, and he consumes the whole thing in about 2.5 bites. Within seconds, he's licking grains of rice out of the corners of the tray, rasping the traces of sauce off the plastic with his rough tongue.]

[Tray now spotless, he leans back, licking his nose]

[Abruptly, he shrinks, tail and whiskers slurping back into his body as his antlers sprout out like branches. Fur peels away to reveal skin and clothes clothes.

And there's Cobalt, on his hands and knees in the middle of the conbini.]
